Our Scientific Committee works in close synergy with universities and research centers to analyze social and migratory phenomena, transforming data into concrete intervention strategies for the territories in which we operate.

Msgr. Angelo Vincenzo Zani
Archbishop and leading figure in Catholic education worldwide. Former Secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education, he was appointed by Pope Francis in 2022 as Archivist and Librarian of the Holy Roman Church. For years, he coordinated the Holy See’s educational policies and the Global Compact on Education, promoting dialogue among faith, culture, and international academic institutions.

Father Giulio Albanese
Comboni missionary and journalist. Founder of the MISNA news agency and former director of the New People Media Centre in Kenya, he has been involved in international cooperation and social communication for decades. A columnist for L’Osservatore Romano, since 2023 he has served as the Director of Social Communications for the Vicariate of Rome and, since 2024, as a consultant to the Vatican Secretariat of State for international relations.

Prof. Vincenzo Buonomo
A jurist and academic specializing in international law and European institutions. Formerly the Rector Magnificus of the Pontifical Lateran University, he has served as General Councilor of the Vatican City State since 2023. He is also a Professor at the Lateran University’s Faculty of Civil Law and possesses extensive experience as a representative and consultant for various international organizations and the Holy See.

Ambasciatore Pasquale Ferrara
Career diplomat and essayist, expert in international relations and political theory. He currently serves as the Director General for Political and Security Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. A former Ambassador of Italy to Algeria and to Morocco, he has combined his diplomatic career with extensive academic and research work, focusing particularly on interreligious dialogue and global governance.

Prof. Giuseppe Milan
Honorary Professor at the University of Padua, formerly Full Professor of General and Social Pedagogy, where he directed the Master’s program in Intercultural Relations. An expert in the pedagogy of dialogue and intercultural studies, he is the author of numerous scientific publications on the themes of peace education and active citizenship. He currently serves as the Director of the University Center of Padua, combining academic activity with educational and social commitment.

Prof. Stefania Gandolfi
Expert in Development Studies and human rights with a doctorate from Geneva. Former UNESCO Chairholder at the University of Bergamo, she has taught intercultural pedagogy and served as an institutional consultant in Africa, Latin America, and Asia for organizations such as UNESCO and the Council of Europe. Author of numerous scientific publications, she is currently President of the Vittorino Chizzolini Foundation.

Prof. Domenico Simeone
Full Professor of General and Social Pedagogy at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, where he serves as Dean of the Faculty of Education. Director of the UNESCO Chair “Education for Human Development and Solidarity among Peoples,” he is an expert in educational policies, adult education, and family counseling. He coordinates numerous national and international research projects focused on educational poverty and integral human development.

Msgr. Guy-Réal Thivierge
A Canadian priest and academic, expert in international educational policies. Formerly the Secretary General of the IFCU (International Federation of Catholic Universities), he currently serves as the Secretary General of the Pontifical Foundation Gravissimum Educationis. He is a central figure in coordinating global academic research and promoting dialogue between Catholic universities and international organizations.

Dr. Nicola Tomasoni
A graduate in Communication, Information, and Publishing, he is currently serving at the Holy See’s Dicastery for Culture and Education, where he coordinates educational and cultural projects. A SFERA volunteer since 2015, he has held positions of responsibility both in Italy and in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, gaining extensive field experience in international cooperation.
